Richard Harrington was invited to visit and look round Chessbrook Education Support Centre on Tuesday March 11th. Chessbrook differs from most schools in that intake is exclusively by referral, pupils who have been excluded from other schools. Richard was keen to learn about the good work the school does, challenging the behavioural problems of the students and the underlying issues problems that often exhibit themselves in such challenging behaviour. Richard was impressed by the methods of teaching at the school which offers one to one tuition which allows the pupils to receive the attention they need to progress well and hailed it as a good example of what can be achieved saying that: “The work of the staff here is impressive and admirable, performing an essential service here in the community and should be an inspiration to others”.
