Richard Harrington visits G.R.O.W.
Richard Harrington continued his interest and involvement with action on homelessness by visiting the Group for the Roofless of Watford (G.R.O.W.) on Wednesday 18th March. G.R.O.W. is a charitable organisation that provides support, accommodation and help for vulnerable and disadvantaged people of Watford and the surrounding areas. Richard was shown round the residential centre which provides practical and emotional support for its residents including teaching residents how to cook, help them find jobs and was very impressed by the environment which seemed like an encouraging and comforting family home. Richard spoke of how this project was a great example of a small charity, that such charities are vital to society and that the state shouldn’t have a monopoly on services. Richard was keen to be involved in future work and asked how he could possible help this organisation, upon hearing they needed funding for a holiday Richard promised to discuss the matter further.
UPDATE: Richard has now found funding for this holiday, providing the first real holiday for the organisation in 20 years which has proved to be a real boost to the organisation.
