The economy is getting worse. Even this government appears shocked to find that there is resistance to the huge burden of debt. The markets can’t find buyers for so much British government paper. We can all understand that. Years of irresponsible behaviour have led to this. What is to be done? Same as at home-hard work, pay back debt-then buy things when you can afford them. Over simplification, but basically correct.

Spoke to a lot of shopkeepers and owners of restaurants yesterday near our campaign headquarters in The Parade. One told me his Rates had tripled in 10 years from £8000 to £24000. They get less for it-they even have to pay now to have their Rubbish taken. When will this stop? It is us, members of the public who have to pay for all this Town Hall and Government binge spending of our money.
