What’s been happening

by Richard | 9 Apr 2009 | No Comments

A lot has been happening in the last 2 weeks, nationally, and in Watford.

The G20 came and went, demonstrations, and world leaders. Certainly, it showed that, once again,Britain can host well any international events. Despite an invasion of record magnitude (the US President alone had 800 people in his party),and much hyped civil disobedience, life was quite normal in London. Even in the City, where many Watfordians work, there was little disruption, I have been told. I went to Moorgate by Met Line from Watford,on the Thursday morning, and it was fine.

What really matters to us, is what was discussed and decided and how it will effect us.

The vast apparatus of government, from local to International, costs us taxpayers an absolute fortune. We have a right as taxpayers for them to fix what is within their control, a platform for people to create wealth so society can benefit.

If they can’t do their jobs properly, then resign.

I don’t think our politicians realise how fed up we all are.

Here’s what most people I meet want:

  • Approachability
  • Honesty
  • Transparency
  • Elected representatives to have shared some experiences in life that they have.
  • A sense of public duty above personal interest. Otherwise keep out of politics
  • A real care about their concerns

The problem is that all councillors, MP’s, MEP’s etc, will say all the above applies to them.

That’s not true.

You have to decide
