Richard harrington speaks about the local council election results:

“With so many people voting for minor parties this is clearly a protest vote. These results are a reflection of people’s reactions over the recent expenses scandal that is damaging national politics. The people of Watford have sent a clear message to Gordon Brown and the Government- that it is time for change. To allow people to trust politicians again either Gordon Brown must step down or a General Election must be called.”

“Such a high turn out for these minor parties shows dissatisfaction with the current Government, also demonstrated by an increase in votes for the Conservatives. Nationally Conservatives are down by 6% on last year but here in Watford we are up by 2%. This goes to show that the momentum is behind us here in Watford.”
