Watford African Caribbean Association Lunch
On Wednesday I joined the Watford African Caribbean Association for lunch at the Holywell Community Centre. I have previously met with the manager but this was the first time I had met with so many of the members.
Over a delicious lunch I spoke to some of the people who use this service twice a week and they told me how much they enjoyed it and how invaluable it to them to be able to get out and socialise every week.
I was very interested to learn about the problems and concerns they face as well as what they would like to see from a Conservative Government.
The visit reiterated to me the vital importance of so many of these voluntary organisations who are there to serve the community. Such organisations are a lifeline for so many people and I think it is necessary to do all we can to support them.
This is why I fully support David Cameron’s plans to promote and transform charities by creating a more supportive environment, reduce the bureaucracy they face and enabling them to earn a return on any investment they make in providing public services.
